Salmon Arm police looking for high school vandals
SALMON ARM – Police are investigating after separate incidents of vandalism at the two Salmon Arm Secondary School campuses.
On Saturday, June 4, someone spray painted vulgar graffiti on the windows and walls of the Sullivan Campus of the high school in the 1600-block of 30 Street NE, RCMP say in a release.
Then early this morning, June 6, culprits yanked a chain link gate from its hinge pins on the sports field and tossed it onto the street at the high school’s Jackson campus in the 500-block of 14 Street NE.
Police are calling it a dangerous act because the street is near Salmon Arm General Hospital.
“Thankfully there was no damage to passing vehicles or collisions caused by the gate being thrown into the street,” Staff Sgt. Scott West says in the release.
The vandals also pulled plants from planters in front of the Jackson campus and scattered them about.
West says there is no evidence to suggest the two cases of vandalism are related.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832 6044 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-222-TIPS (8477).
