Man charged in Kamloops business smash-and-grab released on bail

KAMLOOPS – A man charged with breaking into and stealing from a North Shore business earlier this year was released on bail yesterday.

Kamloops Provincial Court heard yesterday, June 6, David Chales is one of two men arrested after Enman's Camera was broken into Jan. 4. Around 4 a.m. that day a woman called 911 to report an alarm on Tranquille Road. The building the alarm was coming from is a social gathering hall and home to Enman's camera.

When police arrived they saw two men fleeing toward Spirit Square. Police caught up with them and one of the man was identified as Chales. He turned over his bag, which is where police found approximately $2,600 in camera equipment.

Officers confirmed with John Enman, owner of Enman's Camera, the equipment found in Chales' bag matched the lenses missing from the store.

Chales was in custody since the incident.
