Penticton police recover stolen vehicles

PENTICTON – Two stolen vehicles were recovered last week as police investigated several vehicle thefts in the South Okanagan.

A Ford F350 pickup was stolen from the parking lot of the Cannery Trade Centre on Monday, May 30, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says. Plates were stolen from another vehicle in a neighbouring lot around the same time. The truck was recovered later in the week in Kelowna.

On Wednesday, June 1, a vehicle was reported missing from a Winifred Road address in Naramata. The vehicle was later recovered at 901 Debeck Rd. in Penticton with a smashed window.

The property owner reported the truck had been abandoned with engine running and lights on. He called the owner after seeing a phone number lettered on the work truck, which was missing a Honda generator and an emergency kit.

On the same day, a red Polaris side by side 4×4 was stolen from a Juniper Drive residence. A suspicious grey crew cab pickup was seen in the area around the time of the theft.

An electric bike was stolen from the parking lot of Home Hardware on Thursday, June 2. The bike is an Endeavour Impulse S-11, silver in colour.

Overnight Saturday, June 4, a 1994 Geo Metro was stolen from a parking lot near the casino. The owner said he had parked it at 6 p.m. and it was gone an hour and a half later. The vehicle, license number 107 NXM, is still missing.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
