Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin, forced out of Saturday’s game in Orlando with a leg injury, has returned to Toronto for medical evaluation.

A club spokesman said Monday that Irwin was slated to have a scan later in the day

Irwin left in the 70th minute of Toronto’s 3-2 loss in Orlando on Saturday night after hurting his leg on a routine goal kick. He was replaced by 22-year-old Alex Bono, who made his first career MLS appearance. Bono conceded two goals including a stoppage-time penalty kick by Kaka.

Goalkeeper Quillan Roberts flew out to join Toronto for the second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship final on Wednesday in Vancouver. Toronto won the first leg 1-0.

Roberts, 21, has yet to make his league debut although he has played in friendlies.

Irwin, acquired from Colorado in the off-season, has been rock-steady in goal for Toronto. The 27-year-old is tied for the league lead with six shutouts.

Toronto hosts Seattle in league play on Saturday.
