Icelandair to launch seasonal service from Montreal in May 2016

MONTREAL – Icelandair will launch seasonal service between Montreal and Iceland in May 2016, the airline announced Wednesday.

Four flights a week will be offered to Keflavik International Airport outside Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, until November.

The Icelandic airline’s fifth Canadian route will supplement its existing regular service out of Edmonton and Toronto, and seasonal service from Halifax and Vancouver.

The five-hour flights from Pierre Trudeau International Airport will give travellers from Montreal non-stop access to Iceland and allow them “to quickly connect to Scandinavian cities like Copenhagen and Stockholm,” James Cherry, president and chief executive officer of Aeroports de Montreal, said in a statement.

Icelandair allows passengers to make stopovers in Iceland for up to seven nights for no additional airfare.
