Jennifer Schell shortlisted for Taste Canada award

An award winning Kelowna cookbook author has been shortlisted for a Taste Canada award.

Each year, Taste Canada presents awards to some of the best cookbook authors in both official languages. The jury is comprised of volunteers from Canada's culinary profession, appointed by an independent selection committee.

Jennifer Schell, author of the B.C. Wine Lover’s Cookbook and host of iNwine, has made the shortlist in the Regional/Cultural Cookbooks category.

“I’m so excited to make the shortlist for the Taste Canada awards. Because my book contains such a large cast of amazing people from our wine industry, it thrills me to have the opportunity to celebrate them and put a spotlight on our incredible B.C. wine industry. I am just so proud to be a part of it all,” Schell said.

“The award is given to the best cookbook written by a Canadian author (or authors), which best exemplifies the cooking of a specific terroir or region in Canada, or, the cooking of a specific ethnic group (in terms of race, nationality, or religious heritage) in Canada or around the world,” according to Taste Canada.

Schell also earned the top spot for Canada in the Winter Harvest Drink Culture 2020 list in the Food and Wine category.

The Taste Canada awards will be announced virtually Nov. 14.
