Giant alligator weighing 920 pounds gets pulled from lake in southeast Alabama

EUFAULA, Ala. – Authorities say an alligator pulled from a lake in southeast Alabama weighs an estimated 920 pounds.

AL.com (http://bit.ly/1Js66AM ) reports that the 13-foot, 6-inch gator was captured in Lake Eufaula on Aug. 14.

Authorities say the alligator was caught by Scott Evans of Center Point, Alabama, and his friends, Jeff and Justin Gregg. The gator was weighed at Dixon Lumber Co. in Eufaula.

Last year, a 15-foot and 9-inch gator weighing 1,011.5 pounds was caught in Meek Creek, a tributary of the Alabama River. About 115 pounds of that gator was a deer in the gator’s stomach.
