UPDATE: Vehicle involved in weekend hit and run at Kelowna bank located
KELOWNA – Tips from the public helped locate the vehicle involved in a hit and run at a Kelowna bank over the weekend.
Just before 5 a.m. on June 11 RCMP received a report that a black SUV, possibly a Toyota RAV4, was being driven erratically in the parking lot of the Bank of Montreal at 1141 Harvey Ave. near Gordon Drive. A release from police says the driver clipped a pillar but fled southbound on Gordon Drive.
"Investigators believe that the suspect vehicle would have notable damage to its front passenger side, including the front bumper, as well as to its amber-coloured signal lamp lens," the release says. "The suspect vehicle appeared to have a new driver “N” sign on the rear, as well as red packing tape surrounding the front passenger side window, which appeared to be missing."
After issuing the plea for information yesterday, June 15, RCMP was able to locate the suspect vehicle and spoke with the registered driver, who has been issued a ticket for failing to stop when damaging property.
