Training burn being conducted near Naramata
PENTICTON – South Okanagan residents may see smoke in the Naramata region today.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says it will be conducting a small training burn about five kilometres southeast of Naramata along the Arawana Forest Service Road.
The burn is being conducted as part of a wild land fire suppression and safety course, and the area burned is not expected to exceed 10 by 10 metres, according to a media release.
Two initial attack crews will be on site to monitor the burn and ensure it is completely extinguished.
The burn will involve 15 emergency firefighters and is an annual educational experience for the personnel, who may work under the supervision of a fire warden later this season.
