‘The View’ makeover brings Behar back as host with newcomers Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Joy Behar is returning to “The View” as a co-host, part of an overhauled panel that also will include newcomers Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris.

Another familiar “View” face, former co-host Sherri Shepherd, will be back as a contributor, ABC News said Tuesday.

ABC has been trying to find the right formula and improved ratings for the daytime talk show since the departure of co-creator and on-air leader Barbara Walters in 2014.

Behar, Cameron Bure and Faris will join returning moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins for the show’s 19th season that begins Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Behar, a co-host from seasons one through 16, said in a statement that she’s happy to be “back home.”

“And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight,” she said, referring to presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald Trump.

Actress and writer Cameron Bure starred as D.J. Tanner on the sitcom “Full House” and is part of the upcoming “Fuller House” Netflix sequel.

Faris, an ABC News correspondent, was named co-anchor for the weekend edition of “Good Morning America” in 2014.

Shepherd will join with fellow contributors Padma Lakshmi, Stacy London, Ana Navarro and Molly Sims to weigh in on topics including politics, style and health, ABC said.

Co-host turnover at “The View” has included the departures of Jenny McCarthy, Rosie O’Donnell, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.
