ROCKFORD, Ill. – Lukas Reichel scored a hat trick to carry the Rockford IceHogs past the Manitoba Moose 4-3 in the American Hockey League Sunday.
Reichel scored once per period, and his third-period goal was the game-winner for Rockford (3-5-0).
Garrett Mitchell also scored and Josiah Slavin added two assists for the IceHogs, which got a solid 34-save performance from Malcolm Subban.
The Moose (5-4-1) scored three times in the third period through Jeff Malott, Ville Heinola and Evan Polei.
Reichel opened the scoring at 11:08 of the first period, and his tally at 19:02 of the second gave Rockford a 3-0 lead. After Malott made it 3-1 in the third, Reichel netted the winner at 4:46.
Heinola replied at 6:04 and Polei scored a late consolation goal with 20 seconds on the clock.
Arvid Holm stopped 17-of-21 pucks in defeat.
The Moouse outshot the IceHogs 37-21.
