VERNON – Four people arrested following reported gunfire in Polson Park yesterday have been released without charges.

Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said the Serious Crimes Unit is still interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence and will review if charges will be laid against any of the four initially arrested or others who might have been involved in the incident.

The early morning report of gunfire in the area of Green Valley Motel in Vernon yesterday sparked a manhunt complete with a canine unit and helicopter team that eventually led RCMP to a suspect vehicle in the 1000 block of Glenmore Road in Kelowna.

A 34-year-old Vernon man, 23-year-old Surrey man and a 28-year-old Toronto woman were arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Another man suspected to be connected to the incident was arrested in Vernon. All four have been released. There were no reported injuries in relation to the gunshots.
