Men who died in Jet-Ski accident in Fraser River off Richmond identified

RICHMOND, B.C. – The BC Coroners Service has identified two men who died after a Jet-Ski accident near Richmond, B.C.

Ramanjit Bachra and Salinder Burmy, both 56, were spotted floating in the south arm of the Fraser River shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.

The service says they were unresponsive when the crew of a commercial vessel notified authorities.

A Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft removed the bodies from the water and took them to a landing point near the dyke in Richmond, where they were pronounced dead.

RCMP have said speed and fading light may have contributed to the deaths of the men who suffered severe head injuries.

Mounties and the coroners service are still investigating.
