KELOWNA – Police are hoping witnesses will come forward to help them piece together what happened to a 47-year-old cyclist who was seriously injured at Spiers and Gulley Roads Tuesday.
The Kelowna woman was out riding with a friend before 7 a.m. travelling westbound on Spiers Road. The friend lost sight of her but soon found her lying in the intersection, badly injured. A tall, slender Caucasian man with a heavy accent was trying to help the victim, but he left in his blue truck or van before emergency crews arrived.
The victim is still in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover. She was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
Mounties would like to talk to the driver of the blue truck/van and any other witnesses.
