KAMLOOPS – A woman who was released from a Kamloops prison two weeks ago will be back in court this week, facing charges in connection with a stabbing over the weekend.

Mckenna Smith, 19, is charged with aggravated assault after a man was stabbed in his Kamloops home yesterday, June 20.

Smith was released from prison on June 6 after serving 10 days in jail for breaching her probation order.

Kamloops RCMP said in a news release a man was sent to hospital after an aquaintance stabbed him while at his residence on Southill Street.

Smith and a 26-year-old man were arrested after the incident. The victim is still recovering in hospital from serious injuries.
