BAT ASSAULT: Teen pronounced brain dead moved his arms

SUFFERED THREE OPEN SKULL FRACTURES

KAMLOOPS – There is renewed hope for the family of a teenager who was beaten over the head with a baseball bat last weekend.

A family friend says Jessie Simpson, 18, who was pronounced brain dead earlier this week and remains in a coma, has moved his arms. The friend says Simpson squeezed a hand last night, June 22, and when doctors tested his reflexes he moved his arms. It's not yet known what the movement might mean to his recovery.

Kamloops RCMP can’t confirm the extent of Simpson’s injuries, but multiple sources say he was left with three open skull fractures.

Kristopher Teichreib, 39, is charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident, and is expected to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court tomorrow morning, June 23.

Sources say Simpson was attending a graduation party the night before the attack. RCMP say at around 4:50 a.m. on June 19, a man saw someone standing on his Clifford Avenue driveway.

The man, believed to be Teichrieb, approached the person, believed to be Simpson, and a fight ensued.

Neighbours say Teichrieb chased Simpson off his property with a baseball bat, then beat him with the bat.
