Oliver Stone, Benicio del Toro to raise funds for art museum in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Benicio Del Toro has collected on a favour he says Oliver Stone owed him for working extra hours on the set of his most recent movie, “Savages”, released this year.

The favour? A trip to Del Toro’s native Puerto Rico, which Stone hadn’t visited since the early 1960s.

Del Toro recalled the conversation during a press conference Friday in the U.S. territory. He and Stone are helping raise money for one of the island’s largest art museums, which is hosting its annual movie festival and will honour Stone’s movies.

Museum curator Juan Carlos Lopez Quintero said the money raised will be used to enhance the museum’s permanent collection, especially with Puerto Rican paintings from the 19th century and early 20th century.
