BAT ASSAULT: Bail hearing delayed for man accused of beating teen

KAMLOOPS – The man accused of beating a teenager about the head with a baseball bat will have to wait until at least next week to apply for bail.

Kristopher Teichrieb, 39, appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court this morning, June 23 but his bail hearing was put off until Monday to consult with his lawyer. 

Teichrieb is facing a charge of attempted murder after Jessie Simpson, 18, was beaten over the head with a bat early in the morning on June 19. Simpson has been in hospital with severe head injuries ever since.

Doctors pronounced him brain dead earlier this week, but a family friend says Jessie has slightly moved his arms and squeezed his hand.

Sources say Simpson was leaving a grad party around 4:50 a.m. on June 19, when he got lost looking for a friend's address. He stumbled onto a man's driveway and the homeowner, believed to be Teichrieb, approached him.

An altercation ensued and Simpson was chased down the street by the suspect, and beaten with the bat. Sources say he suffered three open skull fractures.
