Major fire in Montreal sends flames and thick billowing smoke skyward
MONTREAL – A major blaze has erupted in what one Montreal fire department official says is an oil reservoir.
Flames and thick billowing smoke can be seen for several kilometres from the five-alarm fire.
There are no immediate reports of any injuries.
Fire department spokeswoman Elife Breault says the blaze broke out in a one-storey building late this afternoon.
TV images are showing a number of residences near where the fire broke out.
