WHL Roundup: Reichle stars in shootout as Hurricanes rally past Ice 4-3

WINNIPEG – Liekit Reichle scored in the sixth round of the shootout as the Lethbridge Hurricanes rallied past the Winnipeg Ice 4-3 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Zachary Benson, Chase Wheatcroft and Connor McClennon all scored in the second period as Lethbridge (22-24-3) overcame a 3-0 deficit.

Bryan Thomson made 30 saves and turned aside six skaters in the shootout.

Briley Wood, Alex Thacker and Jett Jones had goals in the first period for Winnipeg (35-9-4).

Goaltender Gage Alexander stopped all 23 shots he faced in 40 minutes of work. Daniel Hauser turned aside 6-of-9 shots in one period of play.

The Hurricanes scored on their one power play and the Ice went 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the WHL, the Regina Pats edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 7-6, the Red Deer Rebels topped the Swift Current Broncos 5-1, the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2, and the Kamloops Blazers bested the Spokane Chiefs 7-2.
