School bus loses brakes in busy beach parking lot

COLDSTREAM – No one was hurt when a school bus stalled, and then lost it’s brakes in the steep, and very busy, Kal Beach parking lot in Coldstream Wednesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old woman from Saskatchewan was behind the wheel with her six children on board.

A Vernon man following the bus up the slope in his Ford F-350 truck tried to get out of the way but was smacked on the right rear end of his truck before the bus slammed into a parked Toyota Sienna minivan, sending it through a chain link fence.

The van was badly damaged according to RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk in a media release.

The bus has been taken out of service until it passes a mechanical safety inspection.
