HandyDART service to expand in Kelowna this September
KELOWNA – HandyDART services will be expanded in Kelowna starting this fall.
Local residents who rely on the service will enjoy an extra 2,000 hours of service beginning in September.
The City of Kelowna is also considering an additional 1,500 service hours but mayor and council have not yet approved the additional funding, according to a press release from the provincial Ministry of Transportation.
The additional funding will be used to reduce the number of trip denials as well as increase service hours, the release says.
The release does not say how much the additional service hours cost the city or province.
HandyDART is door-to-door transit service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities that make it difficult to use fixed-route transit.
