Osoyoos Rotary Club makes $30,000 commitment to hospital fund

PENTICTON – An Osoyoos service club is making a substantial commitment to Penticton’s hospital care tower project.

The Rotary Club of Osoyoos recently pledged a $30,000 donation to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation’s fundraising effort to supply the care tower with medical equipment.

Club President Marieze Tarr says the club felt it was a long term commitment it wanted to make because the benefits go to so many people in the region.

“Probably all of us will, at some stage in our lifetime, use the Penticton Hospital. Therefore, it’s something near and dear to all our hearts,” she says in a release.

The Osoyoos Rotary Club includes 20 members, and the hospital project will be a major focus of the club over the next few years.

Major fundraisers for the club include the Lobster on the Beach Festival in September, an annual June golf tournament and the Canada Day-Cherry Fiesta pancake breakfast on July 1.
