Levesque hits tie-breaking field goal as Rouge et Or top Carabins in opener

QUEBEC CITY, Que. – Dominic Levesque hit a tie-breaking 39-yard field goal in the final second to lift the Laval Rouge et Or to a 12-9 victory over the Montreal Carabins in CIS football action on Saturday.

Hugo Richard completed 22-of-34 passes for 301 yards and an interception and ran in a one-yard TD for Laval (1-0), which also scored two points on a safety in the first quarter. Running back Maxime Boutin ran 74 yards on 18 carries.

L-P Simoneau had field goals of 25 and 18 yards and two rouges to account for all but one Carabins (0-1) point. Felix Menard-Briere also kicked a single.

Gabriel Cousineau was 28 of 38 for 322 yards.
