Two people killed in crash on Highway 95 near Golden

Two people are dead following a crash on Highway 95 yesterday south of Golden.

The highway was closed for roughly six hours yesterday afternoon, Oct. 27, after a crash between a transport truck and an SUV near Schiesser Road between Golden and Radium Hot Springs.

Golden RCMP report an SUV lost control while travelling northbound on Highway 95 and collided head-on with a transport truck heading south. The vehicles caught fire, and the fire was contained roadside.

Both occupants of the SUV died during the collision, and a next of kin notification is currently in progress, according to the Golden RCMP, in a press release.

Both occupants of the transport truck survived and are being treated in the hospital for minor injuries.

Highway 95 is the alternate route for Trans-Canada Highway traffic while Highway 1 is closed until Dec. 1 for the Kicking Horse Canyon Construction Project.
