Bills fan donates 100K-plus team items to Buffalo museum
BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Massachusetts man has donated his Buffalo Bills memorabilia collection of more than 100,000 items to a western New York museum.
The Buffalo History Museum announced Tuesday that it’s acquiring the collection from Greg Tranter, a 59-year-old Bills season ticket holder who began collecting souvenirs after attending his first game in Buffalo when he was 8.
Over the next 50 years, the Elmira, New York, native collected more than 100,000 items, including game-worn jerseys, every program from the more than 1,100 games the Bills have played, and the autographed helmet Scott Norwood wore when he missed a 47-year-old field goal that would have given the Bills a win over the Giants in Super Bowl XXV.
Tranter, a retired insurance executive from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, also is donating $100,000 to support the processing of the collection.
