Ryan Nugent-Hopkins named to Canadian junior hockey team’s selection camp roster

CALGARY – Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been named to the Canadian junior hockey team’s selection camp roster announced Monday.

Nugent-Hopkins, the first overall pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft, played for the Edmonton Oilers last season.

The 19-year-old centre has played for the American Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Barons during the NHL lockout this season.

Thirty-seven players were invited to selection camp Dec. 10-15 in Calgary.

The 2013 world junior hockey champion opens Dec. 26 in Ufa, Russia.

Canada won bronze in the 2012 tournament held in Calgary and Edmonton.
