One person dead in single-vehicle Kelowna crash

One person is dead after a single vehicle crash on Burtch Road this morning.

Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Ryan Watters said the driver was the only person in the vehicle when police got to the scene on Dec. 11.

As police investigate the scene, Bernard Avenue remains closed between Highland Drive and Cherry Crescent, along with the intersection at Lawrence Avenue and Burtch Road, according to an RCMP news release.

While the area has been closed for hours as the investigate, police are still trying to piece together what happened and are looking to the public for video footage.

They are looking for anyone with dashcam footage or home surveillance facing Bernard Avenue that hasn't yet spoke to police.

Meanwhile, Kelowna Traffic services and B.C. Highway Patrol reconstruction teams are scanning the scene to determine the cause of the collision.

Watters said police are still trying to figure out what time the crash happened this morning and he couldn't say what time police were called to the scene.

Witnesses or anyone with video footage can contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2022-76339.
