Gas Leak leads to residential building evacuation in West Kelowna

A building in West Kelowna was evacuated due to a gas leak in the middle of the night last night.

Police, the fire department and other emergency services worked to evacuate the residential building at the 2400 block of Gossett Road, according to a release by Kelowna RCMP.

Residents were directed to the Westbank Lions Community Hall at 2466 Main Street in West Kelowna to register with Emergency Social Services which started at 3 a.m. today, Dec. 26.

This is an isolated emergency affecting only the residence at this location and there is no risk to the surrounding neighborhood, said RCMP.

Members of the public not involved are asked to stay away from the area.
