UPDATE: Highway 97 reopens near Kelowna airport

RCMP are asking drivers to be patient if they're driving between Kelowna and Lake Country via Highway 97.

Traffic was closed in both directions for several hours after a semi jackknifed.

"The truck had blocked Highway 97 northbound just past the airport near the Ellison Lake pull-out leading to the closure of the highway in both directions just before 11:00 a.m.," according to a media release from the Kelowna RCMP.

"Traffic will still be slow heading through the affected area and motorists are asked to continue to be patient."

The jack-knifed semi completely blocked Highway 97 northbound near the Ellison Lake pull-out.
