Young Dr. Malone’ actor, World War II veteran John Connell dies at 91

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Actor and decorated World War II veteran John P. Connell has died at the age of 91. Connell, who was best known for starring in the live soap opera “Young Dr. Malone,” passed away on Thursday in Woodland Hills, California, according to the SAG-AFTRA union.

After serving in the war as a radio operator and waist gunner, he turned to acting. Over the course of his career, the Philadelphia native performed on Broadway, on television and in films including “Three Days of the Condor.” He also did promotional voice work on the radio and television for companies like American Airlines and Ford.

Connell served on the National Board of Directors for the Screen Actors Guild for 13 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, a son, daughter, and a granddaughter.
