Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up 42 cents, or 28.77 per cent, to $1.88 on 36.9 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 48 cents, or 6.67 per cent, to $7.68 on 5.6 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 32 cents, or 3.46 per cent, to $9.56 on 3.7 million shares.

Orbite Technologies Inc. (TSX:ORT). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 6.52 per cent, to 24.5 cents on 3.7 million shares.

Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TCK.B). Miner. Down 26 cents, or 2.84 per cent, to $8.89 on 3.6 million shares.

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Up two cents, or 0.46 per cent, to $4.40 on 3.5 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Dollarama Inc. (TSX: DOL). Retailer. Up $5.35, or 6.67 per cent, to $85.56 on 1.1 million shares. The discount retailer reported a 14.1 per cent increase in sales in its latest quarter, with profits rising to $95.5 million or 74 cents per share from $68.9 million or 51 cents per share in the comparable year-earlier period.

Hudson’s Bay Company (TSX:HBC). Retailer. Up $1.05, or 4.62 per cent, to $23.80 on 490,980 shares. Real estate deals helped the company return to profit despite substantially higher spending on strategic initiatives in the second quarter, which HBC’s chairman says was a “transformative” period for the iconic Canadian retailer. The latest quarter included a $107-million gain from HBC’s contributions of properties to real estate joint ventures. On a normalized basis, HBC had a $53-million loss in the quarter — up from a $28-million loss a year earlier.
