Okanagan man involved in bizarre sexual assault case, now charged with voyeurism

An Okanagan man who in 2018 was acquitted in a bizarre case where he broke into a Kelowna townhouse and climbed into bed with two women, has now been charged with voyeurism.

Shea Robert Gardecki was charged with one count of voyeurism Dec. 22, 2022, in Vernon.

Court documents show the offence allegedly took place the day before Gardecki, 45, was charged and involved one victim.

The circumstances of the incident aren't yet known but the alleged offence took place in the Vernon area.

According to Gardecki's Facebook account he currently lives in Armstrong.

The court documents state that the victim was observed or recorded in a place where they had a reasonable expectation of privacy and could be expected to be in the nude.

Gardecki made headlines in 2016 when he allegedly broke into a Kelowna townhouse and got into bed with two young women who were asleep.

The women woke up and asked him to leave before calling the police.

He was 39 years old at the time and living in Peachland.

He was arrested shortly afterwards and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of break and enter with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

However, Global News reported that there were no fingerprints or DNA evidence and a jury found it didn't have enough evidence to find that Gardecki was the right person.

Gardecki doesn't appear to have a criminal record in B.C. and his voyeurism charge is now working its way through the courts.
