UPDATE: Man wanted on child pornography charges has previous conviction

KAMLOOPS – A man facing charges of possessing child pornography and importing and distributing it was a no show at Kamloops Supreme Court today, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

This isn't the first time Arnold Arnason has faced these charges. Court documents show Arnason has appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court at least a dozen times since 2005, all related to charges of possessing and/or distributing child pornography.

Arnason first appeared in provincial court in December 2005, and his latest appearance was last August.

He was found guilty of possessing child pornography in 2006.

Arnason has no legal counsel. He was set to appear in court this morning, July 5, but failed to show up.

Judge Hope Hyslop adjourned the court twice in hopes that Arnason would appear, but he didn't. RCMP attended his residence and he was not there.

Hyslop approved a warrant requested by Crown prosecutor Tim Livingston. The case will go back to court after Arnason is arrested.
