Three taken to hospital when ambulance and train collide in B.C.

LANGLEY, B.C. – Three people have been taken to hospital including a patient who was in an ambulance that crashed into a train in Langley, B.C.

Linda Lupini of BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics were transferring a patient who was in stable condition when the accident occurred late Friday morning.

She says an air ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the patient to hospital in serious condition.

Lupini says the two paramedics were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by police and the Transportation Safety Board.

Lupini says the health service is taking the incident seriously and is co-operating with the RCMP and other agencies, but has launched its own internal investigation.
