‘Seven-figure’ donation to Kamloops hospital expected tomorrow to benefit breast health

KAMLOOPS – Royal Inland Hospital is about to receive one of its biggest donations ever.

The seven-digit donation will come from a well known local business woman, says Royal Inland Hospital Foundation spokesperson Gerry Miller, though he wouldn't say who or how much beyond "seven figures." The donation will go towards breast cancer diagnosis, according to a press release.

“She’s interested in women’s breast health and ensuring that the community has access to everything that they need access to,” Miller says.

The largest previous donation was $300,000, he says.

The hospital tests around 1,000 women, the release says. Currently it takes multiple visits to the hospital with long waiting periods for a diagnosis. The goal of the donation is to bring that down to one appointment.
