Three dead in crash on Highway 5 near Clearwater

Three people were killed and two others were critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 5 near Clearwater this morning.

RCMP expect the highway to remain closed for the rest of the afternoon.

A pickup truck sideswiped another pickup along the highway, according to RCMP highway patrol spokesperson Const. James Ward. Another vehicle was hit in the process.

RCMP were called just before 11 a.m. today, March 1, to the collision between Clearwater and Little Fort.

Crash reconstruction investigators are on the scene route is expected to be closed for four to six hours, he said.

A detour is available for passenger vehicles, according to DriveBC. Drivers are asked to obey traffic control including a pilot vehicle.
