BAT ASSAULT: Mother of accused offers condolences to Simpson family

KAMLOOPS – The mother of a man accused of the attempted murder of a Savona teenager has spoken out on a donation page for the victim.

Cheryl Teichrieb has offered her condolences to Jessie Simpson and his family on a GoFundMe page set up for the teenager.

Cheryl's son, Kristopher Teichrieb, was charged with attempted murder after allegedly striking Simpson over the head with a baseball bat multiple times.

Simpson was searching for his friend's address in the early morning hours of June 19 when he stumbled onto Teichrieb's driveway. Teichrieb allegedly approached Simpson and chased him off his Clifford Avenue driveway onto Holt Street where the assault happened.

Simpson is in a coma and has been pronounced brain dead. 

On the fundraising page, set up by family friend Christina Forde, Cheryl wrote how her family's life has also been changed forever.

"We realize the trauma to Jessie and his family have had their worlds changed forever, as have we," Cheryl wrote. "Right now we are keeping Jessie and his family in a circle of prayer, and we believe Jessie will recover, as for our family we ask that you remember that Kris has a family that he loves, and we will see this through, please continue on your prayers for Jessie, and we will continue to support our family."

Forde also posted an update on the page this week.

"Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your continued support and prayers I have no updates to share sadly we are all just holding on to hope as best we can," Forde said. "I know emotions are high and people are getting impatient with the judicial system but unfortunately that's just how these things go and just try to bare with it and keep faith that things will go as they should."

Forde, along with other friends of Simpson, expressed their frustration earlier this week after Teichrieb's bail hearing was adjourned for a third time.
