ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – It wasn’t a good night for goalies.
It took nine rounds to settle a shootout in which 11 goals were scored before the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defeated the visiting Val-d’Or Foreurs 9-8 in the only Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game on Tuesday’s schedule.
Danill Bourash scored three goals and Louis-Philippe Fontaine had a goal and four assists as the Huskies blew an 8-5 lead with under 17 minutes left in the third period.
Tristan Allard, Edouard Cournoyer, Francois-James Buteau, Bill Zonnon and Louis-Philippe Fontaine also scored in regulation time for the Huskies (36-24-4-3), who outshot the Foreurs 44-42.
Nathan Baril, William Provost, Frederic Potvin, Alexandre Guy, David Doucet, Vincent N. Fredette, Thomas Larouche and Mathis Cloutier scored for the Foreurs (24-39-2-2), who trailed 3-2 after the first period and 8-5 heading into the third.
