Kelowna cousins win $5 million lotto jackpot

A pair of Kelowna cousins announced their $5-million lottery win at a family breakfast gathering earlier this month.

Hoa and Duc Nguyen matched all six numbers in the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot draw on Saturday, April 8, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release. The winning ticket was purchased at Orchard Park mall.

When Hoa check their ticket Sunday morning, he discovered the big win.

“I thought, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I was speechless," he said in the release.

Duc and Hoa already had plans for breakfast with some other family members that morning.

“They were all freaking out and nobody could finish their breakfast,” Hoa said. “They were all shaking with excitement.”

The cousins like to fish so they plan on buying a boat with some of their prize money. They'll also be visiting family in Vietnam, who they will share some of their winnings with.

Hoa plans to buy a home.
