Man whose body was found in Myra Canyon identified

KELOWNA – The B.C. Coroners Service has identified the man whose body was found at the base of one of the trestles in Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park last month.

Mark Warren Edelhoff, 56, of Kelowna was found dead at the base of Myra Canyon trestle #9 by hikers at about 7 p.m., June 27, according to a media release.

The hikers notified authorities but it was too dangerous for search and rescue volunteers to extract the body at night.

Duane Tresnich of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue told iNFOnews.ca at the time RCMP were on scene all night and with the help of personnel from Penticton Search and Rescue the body was recovered the next day.

RCMP say foul play is not suspected.

Both the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate to determine the cause and manner of Edelhoff’s death.
