Kianz Froese scores, Whitecaps beat Olympia 1-0 in CONCACAF Champions League play

VANCOUVER – Kianz Froese scored in the first half and the Vancouver Whitecaps beat Honduras’ Olympia 1-0 on Wednesday night in CONCACAF Champions League play.

The 19-year-old Canadian midfielder poked a shot home in the 42nd minute that goalkeeper Noel Valladeres could only get a piece of before it looped up and over a helpless defender.

The Whitecaps (1-0-1) moved into a tie with the Seattle Sounders (1-1-1) atop Group F heading into their game next week in Seatte. Olympia is 1-2-0.
