Accused Kamloops arsonist did not get bail

A Kamloops man who’s accused of setting dumpsters on fire remains in custody after his first court appearance.

William Aaron Lamb, who’s 22, was arrested on the evening of May 17, according to a release from the Kamloops RCMP.

The investigation began when police officers and members of the Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a dumpster fire in an alleyway behind the 400-block of Lansdowne Street on May 15 at 10:45 p.m.

“The joint-investigation by Kamloops police and Kamloops Fire Rescue included members of our General Investigation Support Team, Targeted Enforcement Unit, and frontline officers,” Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release.

“The rapid response of multiple investigative units and KFR resulted in these fires being quickly extinguished, evidence collected, and a suspect identified and arrested, with charges approved by the B.C. Prosecution Service."

Lamb appeared in court on May 19 and is still in custody, according to the Kamloops RCMP.

But despite the arrest of Lamb, investigations into other fires in Kamloops remains ongoing, Pelley said.

“We are pleased with the quick progression of this investigation that led to a suspect being taken into custody, and are thankful for the collaborative work done by the teams at Kamloops Fire Rescue and the Kamloops RCMP,” fire chief Ken Uzeloc said in the release.

Lamb is due back in court on May 23.
