Shooting last weekend in Kamloops now a homicide

An investigation into a shooting this past weekend in Kamloops is now a homicide after the victim died earlier today.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was taken on life-support while in hospital and died of her injuries, according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.

"This is a sad outcome to an act of violence now deemed a homicide," Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the news release.

Police and paramedics responded to a townhouse on the 800 block of Valhalla Drive on May 21, around 6 p.m, where she was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Kamloops RCMP raided a home on Cornwall Street days later and confirmed it was related to the shooting, but so far have not revealed much about the investigation.

Police have not identified the victim and say they won't be releasing any more information in order to "protect the integrity of the investigation."

Anyone with information can contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
