Peachfest performance showcases pet pooches in action
PENTICTON – Fans of man’s best friend will enjoy one of the fastest growing dog sports in the world at this year’s Penticton Peach Fest.
Dog demos at Okanagan Lake Park will be a feature on Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7 during the Peach Festival’s Kiddies Day Events.
Central Okanagan Dog Agility Club chairperson Lenore Trudel, whose group will be hosting the demonstrations, says the shows tend to be a lot of fun to watch.
“We demonstrate what agility is and how we train the dogs, then race two at a time through an agility course,” she says, adding the dog’s personalities tend to shine at these moments. The dogs can sometimes stray off course, resulting in some potentially amusing situations.
The club has performed at the Armstrong IPE Fair for the past eight years and hosts trials several times each year with dogs and their owners from throughout the valley.
The shows are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11:45 a.m. and Sunday, Aug. 7 at 1:20 p.m.
