Crews responding to wildfire near Fintry park north of West Kelowna

BC Wildfire Service is responding to a wildfire near Fintry Provincial Park on the westside of Okanagan Lake north of West Kelowna.

The lightning caused fire was discovered around 1:15 p.m., June 29, near Lower Shorts Creek, according to the wildfire service.

So far, it's less than a hectare in size and 1.7 kilometres from Westside Road.

Fire information officer Aydan Corray said they have a seven person crew fighting the blaze within the Fintry Protected Area. 

The ground crew will be working overnight to build a fire guard and lay water lines, she said.
