Downtown Eastside stabbing claims life of 55-year-old Vancouver woman

VANCOUVER – Vancouver police say a 55-year-old woman has died from stab wounds she received on the city’s Downtown Eastside.

Police say the woman was stabbed inside a residential building just after noon and fled out the front door.

They say she collapsed on the street, was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested by police, who say they plan to recommend a murder charge.

Police say the victim and the suspect lived in the same building but in different suites and it’s not clear if they knew each other.

A motive for the attack has not yet been confirmed by the police, who say the murder was the city’s 12 of the year.
