After Kamloops police seize substances, federal unit required to help with investigation
KAMLOOPS – A federal police team was called in to help after a routine traffic stop.
Yesterday, July 13, a Kamloops police officer seized suspected drugs and “a contraband substance of unknown nature” from a vehicle, Kamloops RCMP said in a release. Due to the unknown nature of the substance, police called in the federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team to help in the investigation.
Police followed up with a warrant of the suspect’s home, where firearms were found. A 19-year-old man is in custody and facing trafficking and firearms charges. He was already known to police. Police didn't say what the substance was determined to be.
