Body found in downtown Vernon park

A body was found in a small downtown park in Vernon early Friday morning.

BC Emergency Health Services responded to a report of an unresponsive person at Hidden Park, a tiny public park located at the end of 33 Avenue in the 3400 block.

Police say emergency responded attended the scene at around 7:30 a.m. on July 7.

"The person was confirmed to have been deceased prior to the arrival of emergency responders and no criminality is suspected," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in a statement.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the person came to their unexpected death, police said.

No other details have been provided.
