Here’s your chance to fly in historic World War II aircraft in Penticton

Historic Second World War aircraft are returning to Penticton next week as part of the Flying Legends of Victory tour from the Airbase Arizona Flying Museum.

The fully-restored B-17 Flying Fortress "Sentimental Journey" and B-25 Mitchell "Maid in the Shade" will be landing at the Penticton airport next week, according to a media release.

Not only will the public be able to have a look at the rare and iconic aircraft, the flight crews will take people for a ride. 

The B-17 Flying Fortress is one of only five currently flying in the world out of over 12,000 manufactured for combat during World War Two.

The B-25 proved to be one of the best weapons and possibly the most versatile aircraft of the war. Heavily armed, it was utilized for high and low-level bombing, strafing, photo reconnaissance and submarine patrol.

The public can take tours of the planes for $15 per person or $30 per family from Thursday, July 20, to Sunday, July 23, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Penticton airport.

For those interested in being passengers on the historic aircraft, prices range between USD$375 and USD$590 depending on the seat and plane.
